The Ross Cup
President’s Welcome
A big welcome to all players to the 25th Ross Cup in Portugal, one of our biggest and best events ever! In 2023, we will have 72 players competing in the Ross Cup representing three distinct areas of Portugal, the Algarve, Lisbon, and Porto.
A big Ross Cup welcome to all new players playing in their first Ross Cup and all returning players. This year, the Ross Cup will be a four-round tournament held over the entire week.
The Ross Cup is being held at four golf courses, Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course, Vale do Lobo Royal Golf Club, Vale do Lobo Ocean Golf Course, and Quinta do Lago Golf North Course. These courses are among the best in Portugal and are challenging golf courses. Dom Pedro Victoria is the current home of the Portugal Masters, played every November as part of the DP World Tour.
The Resort hosting the players is the Real Bellavista Resort and Spa, just minutes from the golf courses and centrally located in Albufeira, Portugal. It’s an All Inclusive Resort and is highly recommended in Portugal.
Three teams are competing for the 2023 Ross Cup, Lisbon, Algarve, and Porto, and each group will be provided uniforms in the colors of the team they are playing for in the competition.
The first game will take place on Monday, May 22, starting at 10 AM at Dom Pedro Victoria with a Two Man Scramble. All the teams have been balanced with equal skill, so it should be a fun, competitive event to get the lay of the land in Portugal.
The second round of the Ross Cup will be Two Man Chapman and Two Man Scramble Matches at Val do Lobo Royal Course, where teams will play match play hole by hole until a winner is determined. Matches will start at 10 AM and continue til 12:50 PM, and each team will play twelve matches.
The third round of the Ross Cup will be Two Man Shamble Matches and Two Man Scramble Matches at Val do Lobo Ocean Golf Course, where teams will play match play hole by hole until a winner is determined. Matches will begin at 9:50 AM and continue till 12:40 PM, and each team will play twelve matches.
The final round will be Singles Matches at Quinta do Lago Golf Club for the lower handicap golfers, while the higher handicap golfers will play a Two Man Scramble. Matches will start at 10 AM and continue till 12:50 PM, and each team will play sixteen matches, eight singles matches, and 8 Scramble Matches.
The results from all three days will determine the winner of the 2023 Ross Cup, and we will have a presentation on the last day at Quinta Do Lago, so all golfers are encouraged to stay at the course until the event concludes.
New for 2023 will also have 15 women golfers on the trip playing their own mini competition on three different golf courses, held over the entire week.
The ladies will play Vale do Lobo Ocean Course on Monday, Laguna Course Villamoura on Wednesday, and the Millenium Course Villamoura on Friday, three excellent golf courses. There will be a Red and Blue Team; each team will wear these shirts on the Friday matches.
Hoping the weather will cooperate, and we will have an outstanding competition between the three teams, and may the best team emerge victorious.
Good Luck to All Players
